#4 MOTHER
A project from Jesse Inman
Words from Helen
Pitt
IN ENGLISH
“Water is life's matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life
without water.” Albert szent-Gyorgyi
In 2018 Helen Pitt, Jesse Inman’s Mother wrote a letter. A letter about
becoming and being a Mother in the late 1970’s. This letter then turned into a visit home and a chat, which in turn became
a small road trip to Dunster beach, a place lost in the past, of childhood holidays and distant memories. The Smallest Theatre
In The Worlds new installation is a trip down south to a small, stony beach by the Bristol Channel, a moment taken to listen
to the waves, breath the sea air and feel the sand between your toes. A moment between a mother and son. You bring a bucket
and spade and we’ll provide the picnic.

»What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark? It would be
like sleep without dreams.« (Werner Herzog)
Join Jesse Inman in »The Smallest Theatre in the World« as he
pays homage to Fritz Lang’s classic film »M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder«. #3 »MURDER« is an exploration of our fascination
with the darker aspects of mankind and whether it’s possible to create genuine fear in theatre. It will be performed in a
small, dark space for a maximum of two people. The performance contains flashing lights and loud noises. #notforthefaintofheart
Eine Hommage an Fritz Langs Klassiker »M – Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder «. Besuchen Sie Jesse Inman im »Smallest
Theatre in the World«.
#notforthefaintofheart

»My skin was lined with bold creases that told of excitement, romance, danger and heartbreak, and my eyes seemed to
burn with memories of mountaintop fires and beautiful women, violent storms at sea, and storybook shipwrecks. Mine was the
face of a man who might know where treasure was buried, but would carry the secret to his grave.«
Nowadays it is
so easy to hide, separate and isolate oneself. But trying to get away from other people means avoiding different views, realities
and not allowing any kind of a different perception. It is so easy to feel sorry for yourself, to damn everyone else, define
good and bad based on nothing else but your self-made misery. But one day Death comes for a visit. Not to take him, not to
release him but just to hang out. Nothing more, nothing less. Now these two strangers are caught up together in his tiny apartment,
two worlds smashing against each other, barely a chance to evade until they start to understand.
A multimedia, one week
long, 24 hours a day, interactive, live audio book with performative elements from one man, squeezed into the display window
of Schauspielhaus Wien. It also has a goldfish.
