The highly acclaimed new album by Pere Ubu, The Long Goodbye
(Cherry Red Records) is presented as a show that David Thomas has declared is the end of a road. Such is the success
of the album that it has been re-pressed twice since its release in July. The live performance by David Thomas with Gagarin
(synths, electronica), Keith Moline (guitar, bass) and Chris Cutler (drums, percussion) is a thought provoking display that
has moved many audiences through Europe.

BRING ME THE HEAD OF UBU ROI
(Theatrical performance by David Thomas of PERE UBU – NO CONCERT)
„Bring mir den Kopf von König Ubu“. Pere Ubu Mastermind David Thomas gibt nach seinem Konzert am Vortag (ebenfalls
bei uns am Schauspielhaus Wien) noch eine Zugabe der besonderen Art: Sein Stück, mit dem er 2008 in der Queen Elizabeth Hall
in London debütierte. Angelehnt ist es an „UBU ROI“ von Alfred Jarry, das 1896 in Paris für einen Skandal sorgte und dessen
Hauptfigur zum Namenspaten für David Thomas‘ Band wurde.
„Alles sehr anti-theatralisch und geschmacklos.
Und warum hat sich das alles gelohnt? Als er Thomas in voller Bariton-Majestät aufstößt, spricht er das eine Wort aus, für
das er geboren wurde: "MERDRE !!!" (Soundprojektor, 2008)

Bring Me The Head of
Ubu Roi (Theatrical production)
Written by David Thomas, this is a rare outing for ‘Bring Me The Head of Ubu
Roi’; as groundbreaking and radical in its intent as the original play by Jarry that sparked riots in a Paris theatre in 1896.
Debuted at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London in 2008, and last performed in Poland at the Akademia Muzyczna, in 2013, David
Thomas revives the role of Pere Ubu, with Chris Cutler, Gagarin, Keith Moline taking on the variety of heads and hats, with
Kiersty Boon again performing as Mere Ubu.
